There is a story behind the title, I didn't come up with on my own.

Years ago, I asked someone to marry me, and when she turned me down, she told me why, and it wasn't because she didn't want to.

She looked in my eyes, like she was searching for something, maybe it was for the real me, maybe it was for her 5 years later, whatever it was, I will never know, she didnt tell me, and I havent seen her since that day.

But, she did tell me this: "I want to, but I can't, it just...feels wrong, not for me, for you. I look into your eyes all the time, and I dont always see the man I love, I see revenge, I see justice, born of pain. You're fighting something that I cant help you fight."

That turned out to be one of the most true things ever said about me.

And it's only become more true as my days have gone on.

As I wrote in comments on another piece, "I believe in Justice. Nothing else matters."

But I do not believe in it for myself. That will not be achieved in this life. But it CAN be achieved for others. And that is why I fight. That is why I teach, and why I continue to learn.

Because I am what, and who, she said I was.

I am Justice, born of pain.

Someone reminded me of this today. And I am grateful.
